I have been truly enjoyed my study, research and culture experience activities at the University of Tsukuba. I come from the City of Chicago, a culturally diver-sied metropolitan area. Working for the museum sector and community development in North America and Asia gave me unique occidental and oriental perspectives as I was search-ing for the best university for my doc-toral program. I love our Graduate School of Library, Information and Media Stud-ies for its frontier exploration in turn-ing information into intelligence. As we all learned, the third Industrial revolution is also generating a great impact on our traditional way of learn-ing. The structure setup of our school favors interdisciplinary teaching and multicultural studies. The school’s leadership and faculty members are experimenting with transformation from autonomous disciplines with well-dened academic borders, to col-laborative networks whose partici-pants come from various elds. At the era of big data, the traditional meth-odology to the study of phenomena is beginning to give way to the system-atic pursuit of big picture issues about the nature of reality and the meaning of existence. My PhD dissertation is focused on Empowerment of Citizens with Informatics‒Transformation Trend of MLA for Social Development in the Information Age. Our school is a leading global institute in dealing with all emerging issues for our future. Seminars, workshops and even international conferences are con-stantly held right on our campus. To name a few examples, ICOFOM 2015 theme “Museology Exploring the Concept of MLA (Museums-Libraries-Archives)”, and ICADL 2016 theme “Knowledge, Information and Data in Open Access Society I love the University of Tsukuba for its foremost mission, which is to provide an environment that educates future global leaders to realize their potential in full. Our university gives us the opportunity develop our individu-ality and skills through an education that is backed by cutting-edge research from throughout the world. Our university’s various global leader-ship programs provide the talent and insight for us to successfully navigate humanity through developments, which have been collectively focused around the phenomenon of globaliza-tion. I love the Science City of Tsukuba for its spirit of innovation. The regional concentration of scientic research institutes allows us to promote collaboration among industry, academia and government, and actively contribute to society while continuing to strengthen our educa-tion and research capacity. Over the past several decades, Tsukuba has become one of the world's key sites for government-industry collabora-tions in basic research. The City of Tsukuba has been nicknamed the Second Silicon Valley. The key drivers of social develop-ment consist of Politics, Economy, Knowledge and Media. We are in a transition from an old era; an industrial society, to a new era; an information society. Today, social media, digital mobility, cloud computing and big data are changing the very ways people work and even think. I appreci-ate this great opportunity to complete the highest academic program of my life at our school. I feel deeply blessed for my truly rich experience at the University of Tsukuba.図書館情報学 English ProgramLi Wang
