17学生の声Experience Studying at the Gradu-ate School of Library, Information and Media Studies I have successfully obtained a Masters degree from the Library, Information and Media Studies graduate school in September 2016. Enrolled at this gradu-ate school, I experienced a new dierent world as this was my rst time to study abroad. Apart from that, studying in Japan was actually a challenge for me as I did not learn Japanese during my previous study. Fortunately, the English program oered by University of Tsukuba gave me an opportunity to experience studying using English as medium of language while living in Japan. Although I graduated as a Computer Science student from private university in my country Malaysia, I have developed an interest to pursue another area which is library science. I decided to continue my Masters degree at University of Tsukuba after searching through a list of universi-ties in Japan. The main reason why I chose Japan because of its beautiful places and the kindness of local people that I have experienced during a trip to Osaka. As for the University of Tsukuba, the courses oered by this graduate school were considered interdisciplinary which mean I could learn core subjects related to library science and also other various subjects related to information area such as information seeking, media education, speech and audio processing and so on. While learning about media education, 図書館情報学English ProgramKamaliah Yusotopics about media literacy fascinate me: how one particular information could be interpreted into many dierent mean-ings; how those interpretations aect and shape public opinion; and, how to eectively and eciently convey the true meaning of the media. With those interests I chose to research about information literacy for my Masters disser-tation. Specically as a beginning for me, the focus was on how information literacy was taught at senior high school. I did research and survey at selected number of international schools and Japanese public schools. With the support from my supervisor and laboratory members, I have learned a lot of new things and gained useful knowledge during my research and while writing the dissertation. The things I have learned made me clear about my weak-nesses which I should improve to become better. I truly enjoyed this new experience of doing research in library science at this graduate school. Not to forget, the university sta and the faculty sta in University of Tsukuba were very helpful which made me feel supported from every aspect while studying here. Apart from that, University of Tsukuba has a conducive and suitable environment to ensure students can enjoy their academic life.
