MUSHAKOJI Sumiko (Associate Professor) Communication Studies, Sociology of knowledge

[TRIOS] [Mail]

In studying the principles of communication, before ‘information’ can be sent from someone (i.e., sender) to the other (i.e., receiver), the one needs to constitute some kind of relationship with ‘the Other’ and construct the mutual understanding, as well as the empathic base for the communication. I regard these elements as the basis for communication. Focusing on not only the linguistic phase but also the non-verbal phases, body language, and various usages of senses, I am mainly studying the potentiality of ‘interspecies communication’ (i.e., the communication between humans and non-human animals and plants).

MUNEMURA Izumi (Associate Professor (Cooperative Graduate School Program)) Cultural Essay on Print Media Expression, Research on the History of Printing and Expression Technologies, The Development and Operation of Cultural Facilities

A broad discussion of the progression from the early days of print media, the origin of communication media, to its maturation in terms of both culture and technology. Through research of the development of printing culture and the technology that has made it possible, the future of digital media can be more clearly understood. Research is being carried out based on putting into practice the content preservation, display methods, and management know-how garnered through the establishment and operation of a museum.

UMEDA Takahide (Associate Professor) Semiconductor Electronics, Electron Spin Resonance(ESR)

[TRIOS] [Web] [Mail]

We study semiconductor electronics technologies for future information and communication technologies. Especially, we focus on ultra-low-power consumption technologies in silicon LSI memories and SiC-based power electronics. We use one of the world's best electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopic techniques combining with electrical or optical characterizations. Our many publications can be found mainly in the world-wide Physics and Applied Physics journals such as PRL and APL. In addition, we develope knowledge database systems for the semiconductor industry.
