Relocation of iPres 2011 to Singapore from Tsukuba, Japan

International Conference on Preservation of Digital Objects 2011

On behalf of the iPres 2011 organizing team at University of Tsukuba, Japan, I have agreed to relocate iPres 2011 to Singapore. The earthquake that struck Japan on March 11, 2011 caused serious damage in the north-eastern part of the main island of Japan. Tsukuba, which is located north-east of Tokyo, was not seriously damaged by the quake.

However, because of uncertainties in several infrastructural issues we have decided to relocated iPres 2011.
The National Library Board (NLB) of Singapore and Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information (WKWSCI), Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, have kindly agreed to host iPres 2011 in Singapore.

The conference dates are unchanged – November 1 to 4, 2011. NLB has significant expertise in digital preservation and archiving while WKWSCI has excellent faculty researching in areas of digital preservation and curation.

Singapore is located in the center of Asia and is famous for its strength in information technologies.
I believe that iPres 2011 in Singapore will equally offer a fruitful forum for researchers, developers and practitioners interested in digital preservation.

iPres 2011 conference site hosted in Singapore and Call for Papers will come soon. I very much look forward to seeing you at iPres 2011 Singapore.
